Are you interested in how to Amplify student learning with technology?
Authors, Kristin Ziemke and Katie Muhtaris invite teachers to join their “tribe” and explore what technology can do in your classroom. Kristin teaches 1st grade and Katie teaches 5th. They begin this book by helping their readers understand the mindset needed to integrate technology: the how, why, and when students should use technology.
“It’s not the tools – it’s what we do with them that counts.”
When technology is used thoughtfully it can be a powerful tool for students to create, communicate and learn. Reflecting on how technology is impacting student learning is just one chapter in this amazing resource.
They write how important it is to find passionate leaders, technology experts to learn from. They share links and QR codes to four of their technology gurus. There are links, and links all through this book. I read it with my iPad close at hand. There is another QR code printed throughout the book that will take you to see videos of themselves with their students in action.
Kristin and Katie have included numerous lessons and examples of student learning from their own classrooms. Each chapter contains the how, why and when to use technology through mini lessons, photos, anchor charts, and links. The chapters end with a gift: Three Things to Try Tomorrow! On page 23, Kristin and Katie suggest to hold a professional book study. That is exactly what I plan to do with THIS book because I think teachers will find it inspiring, and motivating. I highly recommend this book to read, and like me, get others to read it with you.
