NCLB/CALPADS Workshop Series 2014

This workshop will focus on the “Highly Qualified Teacher” (HQT) requirements related to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) data submission, and will include time for questions and answers.

Intended Audience: Assistant Superintendent/Directors of Human Resources and CALPADS, credentialing analysts, HQT staff and CALPADS technicians responsible for ensuring that all core academic teachers meet ESEA Compliance Requirements

General Session Topics will include:

  • Who does and does not need to meet HQT requirements
  • How CALPADS identifies NCLB Core Courses
  • How CALPADS identifies Highly Qualified Teachers
  • Reports that LEAs are required to certify in CALPADS related to Title II data
  • Typical errors for HQT and NCLB Core Course data

Afternoon HQT Session Topics will include:

  • In-depth instruction on how to complete the Certificate of Compliance Form
  • The High Objective Uniform State Standard of Evaluation Process (Parts 1 and 2)
  • Teacher compliance requirements especially as they relate to education options, STEM courses and alternative pathway to graduation courses
  • The Verification Process for Special Settings and the applicability of these requirements to charter schools

Afternoon CALPADS Session Topics will include:

  • Upcoming changes in CALPADS, including changes in enrollment processing, moving grade level, Inter-district transfer category, and district of geographic residence to the SSID enrollment record
  • Identifying types of County Office students for Local Control Funding Formula,
  • Additional fields added to the student program file to collect data on homeless and foster students
