Compliance checklists check for compliance. Did you check all the right boxes? Did you leave something blank? Did someone forget to sign? However, checking all of the right boxes on the IEP document does not ensure that the document addresses all of the student’s needs. Checklists cannot do that alone because it requires the adults around the table to understand the individual student. High quality IEPs require data alongside input from everyone who knows the student to ensure that all needs are addressed. This training will focus on how to ensure that all areas of suspected disability have been evaluated and that all student needs are addressed within the IEP document. Case study examples will be used throughout the training.
