Centering Local Indigenous Voices, Histories & Futures 

Northern Humboldt Indigenous Learning Fellowship flyer

Open to Humboldt Teachers K-12

Join together with educators across Humboldt County and local Tribal leaders to commit to a yearlong study, curriculum development, collaboration and reflection. Teachers will learn about the histories, cultures and current issues of local Indigenous tribes. Throughout the year, fellows will receive training, guidance and support to develop and/or implement curriculum that centers the voices and experiences of Native peoples as well as teaching in culturally responsive ways.

General Outline:

  • Oct-Nov: Book Clubs to build foundational knowledge
  • January: Indigenous Partner Learning Sessions led by local Tribal and cultural leaders, including place-based learning opportunities
  • February: Culturally Responsive & Responsible Pedagogy Sessions
  • Mar-Apr: Collaborative Development & Facilitation of Curriculum/Lessons
