Student-Centered Coaching is an evidence-based, instructional coaching model that shifts the focus from ‘fixing’ teachers to collaborating with them to design instruction that targets student outcomes. Join authors Diane Sweeney, Leanna Harris, and Julie Steele to learn the guiding principles and core practices for Student-Centered Coaching.

This two-day workshop designed for a professional development model that increases teacher effectiveness and student outcomes. This is a training for District leaders, school principals, school-based coaches, and teachers.

The cost of this training is $450/per person (participants will make their own travel reservations). For Humboldt County school staff and Far North Partnership colleagues, conference registration cost is covered by Humboldt COE and Shasta COE.

Which Level am I?

This even features two different levels of  training. Level 2 will require an application to be accepted. Compare the two workshops here.

Level 1 – Introduction

The Level 1 workshop is well suited for instructional coaches, administrators, and district leaders who are new to Student-Centered Coaching. We also encourage school and district teams to attend together.

Level 2 – Advanced Implementation.

The Level 2 workshop is designed for K-12 instructional coaches or leaders who have been implementing Student-Centered Coaching for more than one year. This workshop will provide the opportunity for coaches to take their implementation of Student-Centered Coaching to the next level. Spend two days learning advanced strategies, collaborating with other coaches, and reflecting on artifacts from your own coaching work.

Level 2 Criteria

Participants for this workshop will be selected based on an application process. Selections will be based on the following criteria:

  • Has been implementing Student-Centered Coaching for more than one year or is with a district currently working with our team.
  • Is currently a K-12 coach or leader.
  • Has attended professional development that was provided by Diane Sweeney Consulting – this includes Student-Centered Coaching workshops, online classes, conferences, or onsite consulting led by our team.
  • Is willing to create and share a coaching portfolio. This includes: a Results-Based Coaching Tool, coaching logs, and any other artifacts from your coaching work.
  • Maintains a learning stance when collaborating with others.
