Description
All students have equitable opportunities and outcomes. If we want all students to achieve at higher levels, we must equip teachers, parents and students to rise to the challenges presented by the increased rigor of the Common Core State Standards (Common Core). Implementing the Common Core must
- prepare parents to understand what is different about them and how they can support their children,
- provide extensive supports for teachers to effectively teach every student,
- and encourage students to take responsibility for their learning.
In this webinar, Dr. Rose Owens-West, Director of the Region IX Equity Assistance Center at WestEd, will address the importance of attending to the needs of parents, teachers and students to ensure the success of every student as we implement the Common Core State Standards. This is the final webinar in the Secondary Literacy Partnership’s series, “Transitioning to the Common Core State Standards: Spotlight on Instruction, Assessment, and Equity.”
Members of the Secondary Literacy Partnership include the California Department of Education, the Association of California School Administrators, the California Teachers Association, and the California Comprehensive Center at WestEd. See this flyer for webinar archives from the Partnership’s previous series.
