Strength in Stories Training Series – Session 1 In-Person
Strength in Stories: Embracing Asset-Based Approaches in Early Childhood Education
This two-part professional development series invites childcare providers, preschool staff and early childhood educators to explore and implement asset-based approaches that honor the diverse strengths children and families bring to our classrooms.
In this initial 90-minute session, participants will examine how language shapes perspectives, learn practical strategies for reframing deficit-focused observations, and begin building a toolkit of reflective practices. This session is offered both in-person and virtually.
The 90-minute, virtual follow-up session will deepen this work through collaborative case studies that highlight community cultural wealth, allowing educators to share successes and navigate challenges together. You can register for the follow-up, Session 2, here.
Participants will leave with concrete tools to transform their practice, elevate children’s stories, and create more inclusive, strength-centered learning environments that celebrate the rich cultural resources of Humboldt County families.
