When you start a free Girls Who Code Club, you’ll receive resources, activities, and curriculum for 3rd-12th graders to unleash their creativity, gain valuable coding skills, and imagine themselves as future tech leaders and innovators. No prior coding experience needed!

INTRODUCING FREE GIRLS WHO CODE CLUBS
Girls Who Code is an international nonprofit working to close the gender gap in technology. Our free and flexible Clubs program empowers teachers, librarians, and community volunteers to spark computer science interest among 3rd-12th graders of all genders.
NO CODING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
We support our volunteers with step-by-step guidance, comprehensive online training, a dedicated Girls Who Code team member, and live help to ensure volunteers age 18+ can start and lead Clubs, regardless of experience.

YOUR QUICK GUIDE TO GETTING STARTED WITH CLUBS
To start a Club, you’ll need a nonprofit host site, technology access (optional for 3rd-5th graders and required for 6th-12th graders), and a volunteer age 18+ to oversee the Club as its Facilitator. Then, just follow these quick and easy steps:
1. APPLY – Submit a Clubs Application at girlswhocode.com/clubsapply.
2. PLAN – Our toolkits and meeting guides give you everything you need to run your Club from launch to your final meeting.
3. LAUNCH – Recruit and enroll Club members with our student recruitment resources and swag incentives
Clubs most often meet for one hour per week for a semester or the year, however some Clubs meet more frequently or for different periods of time. Once you decide the schedule that’s right for you, your meetings will follow this easy-to-manage structure.
What Will 6th-12th Grade Club Members Do?
- Learn the power of code through hands-on, project-based activities
- Complete self-guided tutorials at all skill levels in Scratch, p5.js, Swift, and Python
- Gain confidence and resilience as they learn about inspiring role models from diverse STEM careers and become a part of the Girls Who Code sisterhood
What Will 3rd-5th Grade Club Members Do?
- Learn the basics of coding and gain confidence through a book-club style program model and optional Scratch activities
