With over 50 years of research on the science of reading, it’s time to get reading right! The Getting Reading Right initiative is dedicated to building teacher knowledge and how to best support all students in becoming skilled readers. Getting Reading Right is framed around helping teachers understand the Simple View of Reading, and offers monthly drill downs focused on the strands of Scarborough’s Reading Rope to support teachers as they provide quality, Tier 1 and Tier 2, evidence-based reading instruction.
Getting Reading Right trains teachers how to:
❑ Identify and utilize quality universal screeners
❑ Analyze data to inform instruction
❑ Provide explicit and systematic instruction
❑ Effectively use their currently adopted curriculum
Who Is It For? We believe every elementary teacher needs this information!
All teachers grades K-5, instructional coaches, TOSAs, administrators, and district level personnel are encouraged to attend. Send cohorts of teachers to build capacity at a school site.
Connect with a community of other like-minded educators throughout L.A. County and across the state!
