The EL Collaborative supports new and veteran teachers, aides and administrators working with English Learners at all levels.

COLLABORATIVE ACTIVITIES:

* Share strategies and ideas

* Develop common resources useful to all

* Professional development on topics chosen by the participants

* Free materials & resources including an online archive of forms, learning activities, reference materials

* Problem-solving, moral support, encouragement

* Feeder school coordination

* Updates on state requirements and educational research

POSSIBLE TOPICS (to be prioritized by participants):

* ELD and Common Core

* New ELD standards

* ELD strategies, activities, learning games

* EL forms, letters, record-keeping

* Program design, delivery models, curriculum design, materials

* SDAIE strategies for content area instruction

* ELAC/DELAC, parent and family outreach

* Cultural information, working effectively with interpreters

* Helping ELs with standardized testing

* Reading improvement strategies and activities

* Strategies for developing expressive language

* Arts integration to strengthen language development

* Building academic vocabulary

* Assessment of ELD levels, CELDT troubleshooting, student placement

* Strategies for working with newcomers

$95 for all 8 sessions – an additional staff member from the same site will be $50
