This is an introductory professional development workshop on the Education and Environment Initiative that updates both teachers and environmental education providers on this new model curriculum now being used by schools throughout California.

EEI is a K-12 replacement curriculum that offers a way to teach certain Science and History/Social Science content standards to mastery in an environmental context. The first of its kind in the nation, the California EEI Curriculum is an environment-based curriculum that is formally approved by the State Board of Education for use in classrooms statewide. The curriculum features 85 individual units that are aligned to more than 100 selected Science and History-Social Science academic content standards, while supporting English Language Arts standards for Kindergarten through 12th grade.

This workshop is geared towards both classroom teachers and environmental educators. Teachers will become familiar with how to use the curriculum while non-formal educators will find connections between their programs and specific EEI units.
