Region 1 NGSS Summit

All science educators are invited to join for the Region 1 NGSS Summit: Engaging and Empowering Change Agents for the Greater Good. The conference is designed for TK-12 science educators and administrators. Preservice teachers, resource teachers, and informal educators are also welcome. The conference will focus on NGSS implementation with an emphasis on science identity and environmental literacy.

Topics include:

• NGSS shifts and curriculum
• engineering design
• administrator support
• STEM college and career preparation
• science accessibility for all
• citizen science; and
• place-based learning

The conference includes keynotes, breakout sessions, field trips, and design challenges.

Travel stipends and substitute reimbursement available for Humboldt Educators!

On a first come, first serve basis, 10 educators (1 per district) can receive a travel stipend of $390 each along with $200 towards substitute teacher expenses.

Funds will be paid to the educator’s employing district or if you are a HSU LSEE senior or credential candidate, travel stipends will go directly to you. To request a travel stipend and/or substitute reimbursement please email rslentz@hcoe.org after registering for the NGSS Summit.

Payment will be made after the event with proof of attendance.
