Developing and Strengthening Our Mentoring Mindset to Mentor Boys and Girls of Color in Schools
As Educators and Expanded Learning practitioners, it is essential that we show up for our black and BIPOC students as our best selves. To create a safe, supportive environment that models healthy choices and behaviors, we must approach each day with an asset-based mindset, skill set, and toolkit. By doing so, we ensure that we are not unintentionally contributing to any further trauma in the lives of our students. To help strengthen our asset-based mentoring approach, and to support the development and sustainability of Black Student Unions across Humboldt County, we are partnering with experts in the field. Mentor California will provide training and guidance to enrich our mentoring mindset and practices by utilizing the Mentoring Boys and Girls of Color Curriculum.
These professional learning sessions are aligned with and supports the following
