Shift keyboard with datesThis is the final offering of the Online Teaching Institute. We will meet for four afternoons, two and half hours each day. After completing this institute, participants will have the option to join bi-weekly huddles Sep.-Dec.

Course content will include the following topics:

  • Student Engagement in an Online Environment

  • Best Practice in Instruction Design

  • Assessment

  • Collaboration

  • Ongoing Coaching Huddles

Course Text(s): The Distance Learning Playbook, Grades K-12 Teaching for Engagement and Impact in Any Setting Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey, John Hattie Published: June 2020 (this book will be delivered to your site) and selections from The Online Teaching Survival Guide: Simple and Practical Pedagogical Tips by Judith V. Boettcher and Rita-Marie Conrad 2nd Edition Published 2016 (you do not need a copy of this text).

Intended Audience: Teachers grades TK-12, Instructional Coaches, Instructional Leaders

To prepare: Please confirm availability of your course text from your school site after September 1 (The registration form will prompt you to indicate where you will pick it up)

This course is offered as a universal support to HCOE districts. There will be no registration fee. You will receive an email prior to the event with the Zoom link.

You do not have to participate in the fall schedule below. Registering for this event saves your spot for Sep. 8-11. The registration form will ask you if you also want to do the fall coursework. The Institute will run September through December. Every two weeks a cycle of new content and content huddle will occur. There will be optional units available for purchase from HSU Extended Ed..To be eligible for two units, one must participate Sep. 8-11 as well as through the fall to total 34 hours of instruction and coursework.
