Three hundred Educators, Legislators and Community Members descended upon Fresno the beginning of March to participate in the California State of Creativity Summit. It was an exciting 2 days filled with inspiring keynotes and breakout sessions in all Visual and Performing Arts strands, but also in depth training on Title 1, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and more. One of the keynotes is working on a national data collection project of which California is a pilot. Here are some fascinating statistics:

  • 1 in 9 jobs in CA are related to Creative Arts
  • There are now more Creative Arts jobs than manufacturing jobs in CA
  • Creative Arts industries contribute to be the 4th largest portion of the CA economy
  • Only 43% of the 3 million CA secondary school students are enrolled in an arts class
  • Humboldt County is below the state average
  • There is momentum to add Arts Education to the School Accountability Report Card (SARC)

Ask me how I can help you with your LCAP, Arts Education meets the needs of all students, but particularly the students that are targeted with concentration funds. Here’s a great web page with resources. LCFF and Arts
