GALE Student Research Databases
We here at the HERC are thrilled to announce that we’ve just added 2 fantastic research databases to our digital portal. As a contracting school, your entire school community will now have access to these databases which are loaded with high quality, vetted nonfiction content for research and literacy development in all subject areas. In a time when Google searching is often confused with research, these standards-aligned resources will give our students the information literacy skills needed for true college readiness.
Kid InfoBits is designed for students and teachers in grades K-5, and Research in Context for grades 6-8 (although it is also very useful for grades 9-12). Students can browse or search for topics, collect and annotate articles, and access citation tools easily. Teachers can locate timely and authoritative reading selections for close reading activities and more. These databases also work seamlessly with Google Drive and Classroom, meaning they are excellent for both whole class instruction and personalized learning.
